Biography

Custom Art By Denny Wainscott

Denny Wainscott, a native of Frankfort, Indiana, developed a desire for nature long ago. His grandfather taught him how to handcraft gourds into bird houses at a very young age. Since that time, Denny has had a love of nature and the countryside. Today, from his rural home, he creates his beautiful works of art. Many of his gourds have Native American, African,  and wildlife motifs.  Denny handpicks the gourds and then begins his intricate designs.  He draws the designs onto the gourd then wood burns, carves, and inlays turquoise, malachite, lapis and mother of pearl.  He uses wood stains and leather dyes to give each piece its own unique coloring.

Denny had never been an artist, but at age 50 he quit corporate America and started in this exciting new career. He has an electric technician license, a BS degree in elementary education, but no formal education in art.

He loves teaching his six grandchildren how to fish and how to respect nature.  He also never misses one of their games unless he is at an art show!

Denny, and his wife, Carol,  enjoy traveling all over the United States sharing his extraordinary pieces of art
